Cleaning and Support Services Level 2
Aim
The Cleaning and Support Services NVQ recognises the skills and knowledge that are required to clean in a broad range of situations effectively and safely. This NVQ will allow candidates to apply their skills and knowledge to a national occupational level required by employers, thus proving competency in their role.
Units
Six units must be achieved, three mandatory and three optional units.
Mandatory Units
Both
- Make sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety (ENTO)
- Communicate effectively with customers and others
And either
- Work as a team and develop yourself
Or
- Work individually and develop yourself
Optional Units
- Clean and maintain internal surfaces and areas
- Clean and maintain external surfaces and areas
- Deal with routine waste
- Clean washrooms and replenish supplies
- Clean high risk areas
- Clean confined spaces
- Clean food areas
- Deep clean equipment and surfaces
- Clean, maintain and protect hard floors
- Clean and maintain soft floors and furnishings
- Clean glazed surfaces and facades
- Deal with non-routine waste
- Carry out maintenance and minor repairs
- Perform street cleansing manually
- Perform street cleansing by machine
- Work safely at heights (PSSL)
- Use a water-fed pole system to clean windows and facades
Entry Requirements
There are no formal educational requirements for the Cleaning and Support Services level 2 qualification but all staff undertaking the qualification should have the opportunity and experience of working in a cleaning environment.
